Taipei, July 13 (CNA) The Liverpool Biennial is set to open Saturday, and among its featured artists will be Taiwanese visual artist Chou Yu-cheng, the only ethnic Chinese exhibitor at the show.
The biennial runs from July 14 to Oct. 28 across multiple venues spanning the city, and a reflective, gold-plated work by Chou that "interrogates the act of protest" will be exhibited at St. George's Hall, according to the event's website.
This year marks the 10th edition of the biennial, and its theme is "Beautiful world, where are you," a question to be explored by over 40 artists from 22 countries using art to think about social, political and environmental changes, the Taipei Representative Office in the United Kingdom said in a statement.
Chou, born in Taipei in 1976, graduated from the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris and the research program - La Seine, according to his personal website.
Having worked with various mediums including installations, publications, performances and paintings, Chou reveals the peculiarities of art, object and space by investigating the interrelationship between society and aesthetics, his website said.
Chou has exhibited internationally in numerous locations around the world including Shanghai in 2017, Hong Kong in 2016, Berlin in 2015, Taipei and Kaohsiung in 2014 and Denver, Colorado in 2008, according to his website.
