Taipei, July 14 (CNA) The men's division of the 2018 William Jones Cup, an annual international basketball tournament, opened Saturday at the Xinzhuang Gymnasium in New Taipei.

With the participation of a total of nine teams from Lithuania, Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Canada, Iran, South Korea, and the host country, Taiwan which is represented by two teams, the tournament is being conducted on a single round-robin basis and run through July 22 for the regular season.

Taiwan's White team lost to Canada 73-83 while its Blue team beat Japan 74-67.

In other matches played on the opening day, South Korean defeated Indonesia 92-86 while Iran beat Lithuania 76-48.
