Taipei, Feb. 19 (CNA) Taiwanese sisters Latisha Chan and Chan Hao-ching advanced to the second round of the women's doubles at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships Monday, defeating an unseeded duo in straight sets.

The Chan sisters, seeded ninth, cruised past Prarthana Thombare of India and Eva Wacanno of the Netherlands 6-2, 6-2, extending their good play from a week earlier when they won the doubles title at the Qatar Total Open.

The Taiwanese duo will next play the unseeded pairing of Victoria Kuzmova of Slovakia and Ajla Tomljanovic of Australia on Wednesday (Taipei time).

The Dubai Tennis Championships, or Dubai Open, is a Premier event on the 2019 Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour and has a total purse of US$2,828,000.

It has attracted nine of the top 10 ranked players in singles on the WTA circuit and most of the top-ranked doubles players.
