Taipei, April 21 (CNA) Discussions for the rights to distribute the highly rated Taiwanese crime drama "The World Between Us" in Europe are currently being held, according to multimedia and live streaming company CatchPlay.

The 10-part series, which was produced by Taiwan's Public Television Service and has been aired on HBO in Asia since March 24, has received critical acclaim and a 9.5 out of 10 rating on online film database IMDb.
The series success prompted talks on broadcasting the series in Europe, a CatchPlay spokesperson said.

"We are currently negotiating copyright issues," said the spokesperson, speaking on condition of anonymity. CatchPlay is the sole owner of the copyright to the drama series.
In addition to working with HBO, Catchplay would be willing to work with various international platforms in the future and strengthen its investment in or production of Taiwanese dramas.

"We hope that through our years of experience in the international video sales market, we will contribute to Taiwan's film and television industry and have "The World Between Us" stand out around the world," the source said.

The series, which had a budget of NT$43 million (US$1.39 million), describes the aftermath of a mass-shooting that intertwines the fates of multiple characters including the killer, victims, the victims' families and the media.
