Tokyo, May 24 (CNA) Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je visited the office of the committee organizing the 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo on Friday to seek advice for Taipei's bid to host 2030 Asian Games.
Ko, who is currently in Japan on a four-day visit, toured a Matsu temple at noon and visited the Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games (TOCOG) in the afternoon.
After the visit, Ko told reporters that he met with TOCOG Vice President Endo Toshiaki and Tokyo Mayor Koike Yuriko and asked them for copies of documents from the Olympics after the Games conclude as a reference for Taipei.
Ko said he wanted to learn from Tokyo how they planned the hosting of next year's Olympic Games as Taipei plans to launch a bid for the 2030 Asian Games.
He was eager to learn from the Japanese, he said, because their focus in planning for the Olympics has not been on hosting a sports event but rather on an overall consideration of urban development.
Earlier that day, Ko also visited Hagiuda Koichi, the executive acting secretary-general of the Liberal Democratic Party, and Kishi Nobuo, a Japanese legislator and the younger brother of Prime Minister Abe Shinzo.
