Taipei, Feb. 27 (CNA) Three of the 25 currently hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Taiwan have been released from quarantine and will soon be discharged from hospital, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) said Thursday.

They have been cleared by doctors to be released from isolation, Health Minister Chen Shih-chung, who heads the CECC, said at a press event.

Among the three, one is the only confirmed case from the 247 Taiwan nationals evacuated from the Chinese city of Wuhan, epicenter of the outbreak, who returned to Taiwan on a charter flight Feb. 3, according to Chen.

The patient, the 11th confirmed case in Taiwan, has already tested negative for COVID-19 twice and was therefore allowed to leave the isolation ward, Chen added.

The three patients will soon be discharged from hospital after further tests confirm them as being free of the virus, according to the CECC.

Since the outbreak started, Taiwan has had 32 confirmed COVID-19 cases. One of the patients died while six have already fully recovered and left hospital, according to the CECC.
