CORONAVIRUS/CECC reports no new cases of COVID-19, keeping total at 447

Taipei, July 1 (CNA) Taiwan reported no new cases of the new coronavirus COVID-19 on Wednesday, leaving the total number of cases at 447 since the outbreak emerged late last year, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

To date, 438 of Taiwan's 447 COVID-19 patients have recovered, seven have died and two remain in hospital quarantine, Health Minister Chen Shih-chung, who also heads the CECC, said at a press briefing.

Of the total, the CECC has classified 356 cases as imported, 55 as locally acquired and 36 as a cluster infection aboard a naval ship, which was later confirmed to have originated in Taiwan.

Globally, COVID-19 has infected 10,436,375 people in 187 countries and regions, including 2,676,296 in the United States, 1,402,041 in Brazil, 647,849 in Russia, 566,840 in India, and 312,654 in the United Kingdom, with a total of 510,822 fatalities, according to CECC statistics as of Wednesday.
