Taipei, Aug. 13 (CNA) The funeral procession of former Taiwan President Lee Teng-hui will make a symbolic lap around the Presidential Office Building Friday following a private ceremony at Taipei's Chi-Nan Presbyterian Church, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The Presidential Office said Thursday that out of respect for Lee's family, details of the funeral procession would not be made public.
According to funeral plans the office announced earlier this week, Lee's family and friends will attend a private funeral service on Friday morning at Taipei's Chi-Nan Presbyterian Church.
From there, a funeral procession will transport Lee's body to Taipei City Mortuary Services Office Second Funeral Parlor for cremation.
In addition to the private arrangements, the government has also set up a public memorial for Lee at the Taipei Guest House, which will be open through Aug. 16.
Lee, who served as Taiwan's president from 1988-2000, died on July 30 at the age of 97.
