This year is the 25th anniversary of the death of “Asian Diva” Teresa Teng. Her moving voice was popular throughout the ethnic Chinese community. To encourage overseas compatriot students currently studying in Taiwan to take part in activities to celebrate 2020 ROC National Day, the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) is organizing the “2020 Teresa Teng Singing Competition for Overseas Compatriot Students”.

The event has two parts: heats and final; the heats will be held online. Contestants self-record one of the seven designated songs, and send their singing film to OCAC as registration. Online registration and song submission will be open until 10 am on September 24, 2020. The organizers will then select 15 finalists.

The final will be held with contestants onsite in Song-Yi Hall at Soochow University on October 7. The first three and three “honorable mentions” will be chosen by the three professional judges. The first place will take home a prize of NT$100,000 and will have a chance to take the stage during the National Day party on October 9! All overseas compatriot students in Taiwan who love to sing are invited to participate in the competition.
