Taipei, Sept. 23 (CNA) People in Taiwan can pre-order an "I am Taiwanese" T-shirt designed and produced by Czech company politikunatriku.cz through a local e-commerce platform.

Taiwanese can order the T-shirt, priced at NT$290 (US$10), on the website Shopee.tw, the Czech maker, which specializes in selling T-shirts with political messages, told CNA in an email Wednesday.

It said it has received many inquiries from people in Taiwan since the T-shirt went on sale on its website in early September after a visit to Taiwan by a Czech delegation headed by Senate speaker Miloš Vystrčil.

The phrase on the T-shirt, shown in both English and Czech, was from Vystrčil's speech at Taiwan's Legislature on Sept. 1, in which he invoked President John F. Kennedy's morale-boosting "I am a Berliner" speech in West Berlin in 1963.

The Czech company, which was surprised by the interest in the T-shirt around the world, said earlier this month it was seeking a Taiwanese partner to help make the T-shirt to meet demand for orders from Taiwan.

It told CNA that it eventually decided to have the Taiwanese agent of a Czech mountain-climbing gear vendor handle the business in Taiwan and work with the Shopee platform.
