On January 27, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that it further tightened visitor restrictions and personnel management measures for healthcare facilities in response to the nosocomial infection in a northern Taiwan hospital. The CECC announced that with the exceptions listed below, hospitals in the administrative districts of Taipei City, New Taipei City, and Taoyuan City would suspend hospital visiting and allow only one individual to accompany a patient starting from January 27 to February 9.

The exceptions to hospital visitor restrictions are as follows:

1. Treatment or surgery requires the presence of family members or consent forms or papers for treatment or surgery require the signature of family members according to law.

2. Doctors need to inform family members of the health status of patients admitted to special care wards, including emergency departments, intensive care units, and hospice wards.

3. After evaluation, it is necessary for family members of a patient to visit, and the healthcare facility where the patient stays consents to the visit.
