Taipei, March 2 (CNA) Several mobile payment services will be accepted at 12 national forest recreation areas across Taiwan, effective immediately, the Forestry Bureau announced Tuesday.

Mobile payment systems LINE Pay, E.Sun Wallet, Pi Crypto Wallet and Jko Pay can now be used to pay for admission at Alishan, Taipingshan, Manyueyuan, Dasyueshan, Aowanda, Kenting, Shuangliu, Neidong, Dongyanshan, Eight Immortals Mountain, Jhihben and Chihnan forest recreation areas, the bureau said.

The measure was adopted in response to a call by the Executive Yuan in 2017 for 90 percent of all payments in Taiwan to be made electronically by 2025, said the bureau, which administers the 12 forest recreation areas.

The mobile payment services are offering special incentives to consumers who use these payment systems in the recreation areas to draw more customers and expand their business.

LINE Pay, for instance, will give 10 percent of the value of every transaction to users in the form of LINE Points, up to 100 points, from April 1 to June 30.

During the same period, Pi Crypto Wallet will give first-time users a 100 percent rebate of their first transaction in Pi coins, the official cryptocurrency of the Pi network, up to 50 Pi coins, with a total of 50,000 Pi coins on offer.

People who have already used the service will get 20 Pi coins for every purchase of more than NT$100 (US$3.58), up to 100 Pi coins for each account, with a total allotment of 150,000 Pi coins available.

E.Sun Wallet users will be entitled to a 1 percent bonus for every transaction plus a 1 percent cash rebate, regardless of the amount of their purchases, before Dec. 31, but only if their E.Sun Wallet is tied to a Citizen's Travel Card issued by E.Sun Commercial Bank.
