On February 27, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that starting March 1, the “one person per residence” requirement of home (self) isolation will be imposed for individuals who had contact with confirmed COVID-19 cases to bolster prevention measures at the community level and ensure people’s health.

The CECC further explained that the one person per residence requirement would mean that during the home (self) isolation period, individuals placed in home (self) isolation cannot live with other persons not required to home (self) isolate in the same residence. Furthermore, if all members of a household living in the same residence are required to home (self) isolate, and their last contact with a confirmed case falls on the same day, they all can isolate in the same residence but each of them needs to have a separate room (including a separate bathroom), abiding by the one person per room rule.
