COVID-19 is a wake up call for the world and the World Health Organization.

With over 145 million people infected, and over 3 million people will die from the virus,
we're entering a new era for disease surveillance and containment.

I strongly urge that Taiwan be granted membership to the World Health Organization.

Taiwan is one of the few democracies which has successfully contain the spread of the virus:with approximately 1 million people that works either in China or lives there, Taiwan is at the forefront for disease surveillance for future epidemics and pandemics

Taiwan can contribute in many aspects to this global fight.

For example, Taiwan has set up world's best public health system.

It has many disease surveillance technologies deployed and in play.

It has also experiences in supply chain management, and this has been demonstrated by the fact that they were able to produce masks from 2.2 million a day to over 20 million a day in a matter of five weeks, and this ramp up is unprecedented.

Taiwan has also distributed these masks equitably to its citizens, as well as donating millions of masks around the world.

Taiwan should be included as part of the World Health Organization, we could no longer afford gaps and holes in disease surveillance.

Of all the organizations in the world , the WHO, more than any other organization
should recognize the importance of inclusion.

Please include Taiwan.
